Dive site of Shimoji island area

The Best season is aAutumn to Spring, the most famous dive site concentrates the Shimoji area.
Popular dive sites are Devil's Palace, Tori Pond and Antonio Gaudi.
This time the Manta ray encounter probability is higher.

A lot of Sea goldie, Amethyst anthias, and Peach fairy basslet dance on the shallow reef. It is dyed in orange all around and it is very beautiful. In a nearby hollow a school of Goldlined sea bream and Yellowfin goatfish. If you go deep along the wall, you can see dusky bat fish. And if you dive deeper, you can see the dynamic topography. In the vicinity, you may encounter Whitetip reef shark, Dogtooth tuna, Giant trvally, sea turtle. You can enjoy big fish and small fish.

The current is so strong that we can't usually go there, but the Bigeye Trevally's tornado is a masterpiece. Sometimes there is no Bigeye Trevally, but you can see Dogtooth Tuna, Napoleonfish and big size sea turtle. On the reef you can see many Pyramid butterflyfish, Redtooth triggerfish, Sea goldie and Peach fairy basslets. It will always be an exciting dive.

Devil's Palece is one of the three major diving spots of Miyakojima. The Devil's Palace starts at the entrance and goes through a long cave to the Devil's Palace main room and Devil's bedroom. Sunlight entering the hole in palace creates a bright and fantastic world. When the sun is directly above, sunlight in Devil's bedroom looks like a spotlight. The sunlight entering all three rooms is very beautiful.

As soon as divers drop into the water, spectacular drop off and they will be able to see schools of hundreds of fish above them. You can see school of Pyramid butterflyfish, Redtooth triggerfish, Doble lined fusilier, Blue streak fusilier, Yellowback fusilier. Go down the drop-off to 35m along the wall and you will see the entrance to  cave. The cave is sandy and you can see the Japanese furrow lobster. Sometimes Spotted eagle ray passes by.

Tori Pond is one of the three major diving spots of Miyakojima. Tori pond is famous as a tourist attraction in Shimojijima. Tori Pond has two ponds. For diving style, we can enter from the sea outside pond and go up to surface of pond through a large arch that connects sea and pond. Dynamic arch depth is about 20m and sea bottom is sandy at a depth of about 40m. Sometimes we can see Giant trevally, Dogtooth tuna and Sea turtle. Chemocline is visible at the boundary between freshwater and seawater. On surface of pond, we sometimes communicate with tourists. When you descend again, diving toward the sea and returning on the same route.

Mini Grotto is also known as Mini Tori Pond. The dive site is easy to get to by boat and is suitable for all level of divers. Many lionfish can be seen at entrance of Mini Grotto. The visibility is good, sunlight entering pond is very beautiful, and curtain of sunlight is a very amazing place. Inside the cave there is a topography in shape of Mercedes Benz mark. On White Road you can enjoy small fish and macro photography. The site is a fantastic dive site.

Antonio Gaudi is one of the three major diving spots of Miyakojima. There is Antonio Gaudi at a depth of 20m-35m when going offshore from the shallow reef. The irregular topography with many holes makes it look like the beautiful architecture of architect Antonio Gaudi. The dynamic topography looking up from sea bottom, looks like "Jack O'Lantern's" on Halloween. Sometimes, we will be able to see Giant Trevally circling in Antoni Gaudi. You can enjoy the pale sunlight from various angles.

As soon as divers drop into the water, they will be able to see huge schools of Doble lined fusilier, Blue streak fusilier, Yellowback fusilier, Pyramid butterflyfish and hundreds of fish circling above them. The giant trevally circling is very powerful. You can see Whitetip Reef Sharks and Ringeye Jawfish on sandy sea bottom. There are also Moray, Nudi Branch, Sea Turtle and Clown Anemonefish on the wall. Sometimes, you can see the Dogtooth Tuna, Napoleonfish, Spotted Eagle Ray.

At a place located in Nakanoshima Bay, you can enjoy certified diving, experience diving, and snorkeling. There are some channels of topography, and the shallow reef has a crevasse. Sunlight pouring into the crevasse creates a fantastic world and you can see the curtain of sunlight. On the reef, you can see many angelfish, surgeonfish, anemonefish, butterflyfish. Divers who like macro photography, you can enjoy finding for Nudy Brunch, Sea Slug, and Pygmy Seahorse.

At a place located in Nakanoshima Bay, you can enjoy certified diving, experience diving, and snorkeling. The entrance to hole is depth about 5 m and the vertical hole extends to sea bottom about 25m. As you slowly go down to hole and look up, pale blue sunlight creates a very fantastic space. Moving from sea bottom to sea, there is a wide sandy space. You can see dynamic topography like Moomin's profile. This dive site is you can enjoy macro photography with schools of many fish in the shallow reef. Sometimes you can see Manta ray, Napoleonfish, Sea Turtlem Dogtooth Tuna.

The dive site enters cave and goes through a wide hole to surface of pond. Head to entrance of hole from shallow reef. You can see Clark's anemone fish and Tomato anemone fish on the way to hole. A schools of lot of Blackstripe sweeper, Moontail bullseye, Blotcheye soldierfish. There are holes in the cave entering sunlight, so you can see the beam of sunlight. The pond is a mix of freshwater and seawater, with chemoclines on the underwater boundaries. On the drop-off wall you can find Nudi Branch or sea Slug.

There is a hole on the shallow reef that is a cove, and inside is a large space.
And sea bottom with a depth of 30m is sandy. Sunlight comes in through the reef crevice and the shower of light looks like a curtain, which is very beautiful. Inside the cave, you can see many schools of Blotcheye soldierfish, Moontail bullseye and Blackstripe sweeper. You will also finding the glowing shell "Flame file shell". This dive site is accessible only when the sea conditions and wind direction are good.

When you go offshore from shallow reef, you can see rocks protruding from sea bottom. As soon as divers drop into the water, they will be able to see huge schools of Doble lined fusilier, Blue streak fusilier, Yellowback fusilier, Pyramid butterflyfish and hundreds of fish circling above them. The huge Sea Fan is worth seeing. And Dogtooth Tuna and Giant Trevally circling the rocks. Sometimes the current is strong, but it is a very exciting diving with many big fish.

A lot of fish school on the shallow reef and can be seen with high probability in sea turtles. In the drop-off going to the hole, you can see Whip coral goby and Gorgonian pandalid shrimp live in whip coral. Inside the hole, you can see many schools of Blotcheye soldierfish, Moontail bullseye and Blackstripe sweeper. Sometimes you can see Whitetip reef sharks. Also, the sunlight entering the hole is wonderful. This dive site is you can enjoy macro photography with schools of many fish in the shallow reef.

The dive site is easy to get to by boat and is suitable for all level of divers. The average depth is about 15m and the cave entrance and exit are at same location. The cave takes a course in clockwise direction. There are several large spaces inside the cave. Sunlight coming in the cracks and light of pale blue are very beautiful. There are many Blotcheye soldier fish and Blackstripe sweepers in the cave.

Dive into the shallow reef and enter the Queen's room through a hole 25m. There is a large space with pure white sand and pale blue sunlight illuminating the sand. A very fantastic world. On the sand, you can see Rockmover wrasse Spotted prawn goby and Landall's shimp goby, and Deep sea squat lobster can be seen on the sea whip. When you go down the sloped sand, sunlight entering through three holes shows a very fantastic world.

Head between reefs to the twin caves. When you enter the narrow cave from the crevasse, you can see a schools of many Blotcheye soldierfish and Blackstripe sweeper in the cave. Blackstripe sweeper illuminated by torch a schools of fish is very beautiful while shining brightly. There are many fish in the cave and you can also see Longlegged spyny lobster. Under the overhang, a Whitetip reef sharks is resting. It can be enjoyed by all divers.

Eight pole arch following the Twin cave. This dive site is you can enjoy drop-offs, caves and arches. Due to the proximity of dive site, we may dive into two sites at the same time. You can see a schools of Pyramid butterflyfish, Amethyst anthias, Redtooth triggerfish, Doble lined fusilier, Blue streak fusilier, Yellowback fusilier. Sometimes you can see Sea turtle and Dogtooth tuna.

Sandy area inside the reef. Garden eels rarely found on other dive sites. Many can be seen in the sand at a depth of 13m. On the rocks you can see Clown anemonefish and Orang anemonefish. The coral scattered in the sand, you can see many schools of Treespot dascyllus, Reticulated dascyllus, and Humbug dascyllus. Sometimes you can see Blue-spotted stingray and Whitetip reef sharks.

A sandy dive site just off the coast of Irabujima and Shimojijima. Coral dotted on pure white sand at a depth of 10m. Diving style is fish watching while moving coral and coral. A school of Slender sweeper and Luminous cardinal fish is a must-see. The dance around the corals of these fish is so amazing. You can also see the Nudi branch and Sea slug in the sand.
