The day started cloudy and we could see rain on the horizon, but hoping for the best we headed to the boat to start the diving day, 2 dives today, one in the morning with a couple of Open Water Divers with whom we visited the White Road, and another on the evening for an introductory diving at Nakanoshima Channel.
【Dive1 White Road】
Luckily avoiding the rain, we set course to Shimoji Island with a couple of Open Water, after stopping at the White Road area, we met under the boat and started swimming following a big wall, after a while we headed back to follow the White Road finding an anemone with a family of Crack’s anemone fishes and finally visiting a small entrance of a cave. Getting back we didn’t have the same luck and we caught some rain, luckily we were already wet!
【Dive2 Nakanoshima Channel】
For the second dive of the day we started with big rain, just to lose it when we start heading to the Nakanoshima Channel. We start the Introductory diving with our 2 brave Japanese couple and after explaining the basics we start a tour around the channels where they could appreciate the beauty of the hidden undersea world. We visited the channels, passing under arcs, visiting rock formations, finding a family of the famous Anemone Clown Fish, and we took many many pictures to remember the day! After the dive we enjoyed some extra time snorkeling around observing peacefully the hard corals and swarms of fishes dancing around us. After that exciting day we head back to the port with more than a smile onboard.

Starting early in the morning, with 2 dives planned for the day with our experienced guest from Okinawa, we decided to go to Antonio Gaudi and to Marine Lake.
【Dive1 Antonio Gaudi】
As a first dive we chose the Antonio Gaudi dive site as a request from the guest, after getting in the water we swam across the natural channels easily until we found the astonishing cave that we call “Antonio Gaudi”. The reason of the name is understood instantly, though not being a huge cave, it has many arch and windows that resembles the crazy and amazing architecture of the Catalan artist Antonio Gaudi. Entering from the lower part we visit all the cavities playing with it as we ascend and exit it through the top window, on the top part we can see a heart shape arch. Exiting from the top we start the return to the boat zone while playing with strong currents that changed direction all the time. Right under the boat we take our time to explore the “white road”, a canal with a pebble bed that grants it the name, exploring that part we are able to see a huge hidden giant moray and a much smaller whitemouth moray before heading back to the boat.
【Dive2 Marine Lake】
After a much needed break after the dive with strong currents, we head to the next dive site “Marine Lake”. We jump into the water and head towards the entrance of the cave. We navigate the narrow cave, finding a couple rooms with natural light, and we follow until finding the pond, a much smaller pond than Tori pond, but very beautiful, even with many seaweed hanging from the surface to the bottom, as the visibility was quite good the spectacle was amazing. After resting at the pond for some time, we head back, only to spot at one of the openings we saw before, a group of blotcheye soldierfish swimming peacefully in perfect harmony with the light effect coming from the surface, that image froze us for some minutes where we could do nothing more than stay still observing. After that spectacle we headed back towards the boat to end an amazing diving day.

On a late start today we dove at Devil’s Palace and Tori pond, after a short trip by boat of 30 minutes, we entered the water around noon, and had an amazing experience.
【Dive1 Devil’s Palace】
With today’s guest, a very experienced diver coming from Naha, as a first dive we went to Devil’s Palace. In there we we’re amazed by the narrow caves leading to some much larger chambers with natural light coming from the top where we could appreciate the reason behind the name of the spot, as these chambers are filled with coral remains and empty shells creating an amazing view. We visited the 2 different caves there are, having each one of the their own special characteristics. During the time outside the caves we managed to see a couple of very big dogtooth tuna and some long legged spiny lobsters.
【Dive2 Tori Pond】
As for the second dive we headed to the impressive Tori Pond, the sea was a bit rough at the dive spot, but good enough. We headed down to 20m depth just to see appearing in front of us the huge arc that works as door to the first pond, at the same time a group of 5 or 6 smaller dogtooth tuna passed by. Only by getting near you realize the size of it, around 20m from the tp of the arc to the sandy ground floor, and with a dim turquoise dimmed light coming from the other end the effect was almost religious. Going in we crossed a majestic sea snake leaving the pond. Once at the other side we surfaced to admire the texture and visibility changes of the river water mixing with the sea water. After the break with some salutation exchanges with some tourists visiting the pond on the surface we headed back being followed by a blue spotted sting ray. In the middle of the arc we took our time and landed on the ground to better appreciate the magnitude of it and then headed back to the boat following the wall.
